Capitol Hosts Special Fan at Opener
Capitol Racing News Published: Spring 2003
Capitol Auto Group Racing and Woodburn Dragstrip teamed up to host a young girl
stricken with cancer at the Season Opener, May 18th. Codi Frazier, age 10 was
originally diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer known as Osteosarcoma in
2000. Now, the cancer has progressed to the point where doctors have little hope
that she will beat the disease.
During the race, Codi got to meet and spend time with several high-profile top
alcohol and jet funny car racers including, Steve Federlin, Joey Severence,
Clint Thompson, Todd Ashwell, Kim Parker, Richard Smith, Daren Bay and Mitch
Myers. After a tour of Myers’ pit area, he promised Codi that he would set new
track record for her and did so an hour later in his A/Fuel Dragster with a 5.39
ET.
Codi along with her legal guardian, Loni, were invited to ride down with Kim
Parker s crew to retrieve their dragster after Kim’s best ever run. While Codi
loved the dragsters, her favorite cars were predictably the Jet funny cars. The
racers also reached out to Codi by giving her and her friends t-shirts and
signed posters. It was Codi’s first time attending a drag race and it was much
more than she ever expected. You see the heartwarming photos at www.codibug.com
